Digital Cameras - Not Just For Photos Anymore

There was a time when a camera took pictures, and that was it. That was all well and good back then, but with technology advancing in leaps and bounds, these days we all expect more from our electronics. The vacuum cleaner should clean without our help; our car should tell us when we're too close to the curb...

Digital cameras are getting increasingly tricked out too, with all from Gps functions and mp3 players to portrait retouching built right into the camera.

Polaroid Printer

Here are some cameras and gadgets that go above and beyond the call of duty:

Geotagging
Have you ever looked at one of your photos and tried to outline out where you took it? Was it on the trip to Germany, or Switzerland? The mountains look so similar... Well, Nikon's Coolpix P6000 would solve that qoute for you. It has a Gps built in, which automatically geotags all your photos with the exact location where you took them. The rest of the camera is pretty fabulous too: 13.5 megapixles, 4x wide angle optical zoom, Raw capability, hot shoe, and wide angle converter.

The JoBo photoGps does the same job for Slr users. This small device (just 2.7x0.8x1.7") fits right into the hot shoe, and captures the geodata automatically (even street names and points of interest!) every time you click the shutter. It has an internal rechargeable battery which powers down immediately after you take a photo, so it can go for weeks on a particular charge.

Everything But The Kitchen Sink
Many of Samsung's stylish, slim cameras are so loaded with features that you don't know where to start. There are touch screens, photo styles (I love the Retro), auto macro, slide shows with emotion themes and music, built in retouching, color effects, text viewers, face, smile and blink detection, photo help guides, request for retrial timers (takes the photo when your subject is still), combination assistance, world tour guides (like a guide book, but in your camera), Mp3 players with Hd surround sound, multimedia players, camcorders, voice recorders, and more.

Internal Photo printer
Polaroids have all the time produced prints out of the camera, that's nothing new. What's new is getting them out of a digital Polaroid camera. The PoGo comes with a brand new built-in Zink printing technology. Take the photo, make your edits (crop or add a border), and out comes a 2x3 peel-off, sticky-backed color photo.

What's even better is that the Zink technology doesn't use ink cartridges, so you don't have to worry about retention ink on hand, or changing cartridges (making it an environmentally kindly selection as well). It works by using heat and a extra paper with cyan, yellow and magenta dye crystals embedded in it.
